The most important week for GTA 6 since the November delay announcement just started. Two events are converging at the same time and the gaming community is on maximum standby.

On one hand, an internal Best Buy email confirmed as legitimate by industry sources: the US retailer reportedly scheduled a GTA 6 pre-order promotional campaign with a May 18-21 window, with a 5% discount for those who reserve during those days. The email doesn't reveal the full price but does mention the discount, implying Best Buy already has a price loaded in its system.

On the other hand, Take-Two has its Q3 earnings call scheduled for Wednesday, May 21. Rockstar has historically paired investor events with major announcements. The third GTA 6 trailer — which the community has been anticipating for months — is expected this week or next.

What's confirmed and what isn't

Confirmed by Rockstar and Take-Two:
- Release date: November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S — unchanged, reconfirmed by CEO Strauss Zelnick at the iicon conference on April 28. "I think a lot of people will be calling in sick on November 19," Zelnick said.
- Physical edition available from day one alongside digital.
- No PC version confirmed.

Not yet confirmed:
- Official pre-order opening date — the Best Buy email points to May 18-21 but Rockstar hasn't confirmed it. PC Guide updated hours later: "pre-orders unlikely on May 18 according to new leak — Best Buy got it wrong."
- Official price. The most specific signal comes from a Zelnick interview in March 2026 where he mentioned $70-$80 as a reference. An Xbox listing in the Netherlands appeared at €99 but Rockstar flagged it as a placeholder, not official.
- Special editions. At least three tiers are expected — standard, premium and collector's — but none have been announced.

The third trailer

The technical community detected in February 2026 that GTA VI IDs were loaded into the PlayStation Store database — the technical step before a game becomes purchasable. That data point, combined with the May 21 earnings call and the Best Buy email, makes this week the most likely window for the third trailer and pre-order launch.

GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 opened pre-orders with a "pre-order now" call at the end of the corresponding trailer. If Rockstar follows the same pattern, trailer 3 and pre-orders would arrive together.

How much it will cost

The price still hasn't been officially confirmed. Zelnick in March 2026 used "$70 or $80" as a reference when talking about in-game advertising — it wasn't a price confirmation but it's the most concrete signal available. A collector's edition at $150 or more is widely expected based on Rockstar's precedents.

What Rockstar implicitly ruled out: a $100 base price, which Zelnick acknowledged would generate negative headlines at launch.

The anti-scam warning

Fake GTA 6 pre-order pages are circulating on discount key sites and third-party storefronts. None are legitimate. When pre-orders officially open, they will appear simultaneously on PlayStation Store, Xbox Store and Rockstar Games' official website. If it isn't on those three platforms, it's a scam.
